Robert Ivy “Bob” Bright, age 76

Robert Ivy “Bob” Bright, age 76, of Forest City passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014.  

He was born October 19, 1938 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Ivy Alfred Bright and Mary Lishey Byers Bright.  Bob was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, and active in mission work that took him across the United States including Alaska and Hawaii.  Bob was also active in the North Carolina Baptist State Missions Organization.  He also served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961.  Bob worked for Duke Power Company where he retired as Control Room Supervisor at the Cliffside Steam Station.  He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Edna Hutchins Bright.Survivors include his son, Robby Bright and wife Dana, a daughter, Donna Bright Elliott and husband Mark, brothers, Bill Bright and Max Bright and sister, Jackie Bright Fisher all of Forest City.  There are also five grandchildren, Maggie, Bo, Jake, Riley, and Hank.Funeral services were held in the Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Fox and Reverend Marvin Green officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
