Roger Dean Newton, age 61

Roger Dean Newton, age 61, of Rutherfordton, NC passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013.

Roger was born October 20, 1951 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Claudus Samuel Newton and Violet Scruggs Newton. He worked for Cone Mills for thirty-three years before his retirement.  Roger enjoyed playing the guitar, snow skiing and traveling.  He loved his family dearly.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of forty-five years, Barbara Harrill Newton and daughter, Michelle Newton Morgan of Asheville, NC.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Cecelia Beck officiating.  Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
