Ronnie D. Atkins, age 62

Ronnie D. Atkins, age 62, of Forest City, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016.

Born May 5, 1953 in Cleveland County, NC, he was a son to the late Charlie Sims Atkins and Sara Edmondson Atkins. Ronnie worked as a supervisor for National Textiles for eighteen years and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed working on cars, was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and Dallas Cowboys fan. Ronnie was known for his sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Atkins and Larry Atkins; brother-in-law, Doug Hamrick and nephew, Derek Hamrick.

Survivors include his life-partner, Jean Stein of Forest City; two daughters, Misti Atkins and Michelle Atkins both of Forest City; three brothers, Johnny Atkins and wife, Linda of Grover, NC, Jerry Atkins and Randy Atkins both of Lattimore; three sisters, Roseann Green of Lattimore, Brenda Hamrick of Forest City and Becky Atkins also of Lattimore. He is also survived by two grandsons.
