Ronnie Leroy Whitener, Sr., age 69

Ronnie Leroy Whitener, Sr., age 69, of Forest City, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016.

A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Samuel and Vernie Pritchard Whitener, a former weaver supervisor at Mastercraft and later retired from Tidewater as a truck driver. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Ann Flores.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Virginia "Ginger" Huntley Whitener, two sons, Ronald Leroy Whitener, Jr. of Forest City, Samuel David Whitener of Forest City, a brother, Wayne Whitener and his wife Sylvia of Forest City, and six grandchildren.

There are no formal service arrangements being made. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of the Spartanburg Regional Restorative Care for their kindness, hospitality, and attention to detail concerning Ronnie's illness. The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
