Roy Lewis McKain, age 89

Roy Lewis McKain, age 89 of Ellenboro passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Roy was born on February 23, 1928 in Washingtonville, Ohio and was a son of the late Kenneth Clair McKain and Alberta Viola Ward McKain. In 1936 his family moved to Daytona Beach, Fl where he was educated in the public schools and graduated from Seabreeze High School. Roy then joined the United States Marine Corps and was sent to North China where he served from 1946 until 1947. He was a lifetime member and Past-Commander of the American Legion. Roy traveled both North and South Carolina with a barber and beauty supply company as a sales representative and was a member of Concord Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Sue McKain and his second wife, Clara Sue Smart McKain.

He is survived by a number of step-children, step-grandchildren, a niece and a host of friends and neighbors.

A memorial service was held in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Travis Laflin officiating. Military honors were accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard on the chapel lawn following the service.
