Ruby Cole Matheny, age 87

Ruby Cole Matheny, age 87, of Forest City, passed away, Saturday, February 13, 2016.

Born at home in Rutherfordton, she was the daughter of the late Loyd and Mallie Huntley Cole; a homemaker and member of the Crestview Baptist Church since 1969. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Wayne Matheny, one granddaughter and brother, Floyd Cole.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Jack T. Matheny of the home, three sons, Marlin Matheny of Forest City, Dennis Matheny and his wife Gale of Forest City, and David Matheny of Forest City, a sister, Ruth Cole Womack of Forest city, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Crestview Baptist Church in Forest City, with the Reverend Kevin Rohm officiating. Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund, 630 S. Church Street, Forest City, NC 28043. The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
