Ruby Irene Bradley was born February 22, 1927 and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on February 21, 2013. Since she left this earthly realm one day short of her eighty-sixth birthday, she will have the most glorious birthday feast and celebration ever-at the Lord’s banquet table

Ruby was the daughter of the late Herbert Alonzo Bradley and Ettie Mae Pye Bradley and lived her entire life in Spindale, NC. She was a graduate of R-S Central High School and never missed a Class of 1944 reunion gathering.

A member of Spencer Baptist Church, Ruby loved children and served as a Sunday school teacher to children of various ages for many years.

Her career in textiles spanned over forty years and she was employed most of that time by Spindale Mills. She retired in 1989 as a Cost Specialist. Upon retirement, she devoted her life to being a full time “caregiver.” Her generosity and loving kindness to family, friends, and community are legendary and she will be sorely missed.

Ruby is survived by her sister, Reola Melton of Lady Lake, FL and was predeceased by sisters, Ruth and Rachel, and brothers, Alvin and Raymond. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, who along with their children, have wonderful memories of “Aunt Ruby” that are too numerous to count and too sweet to ever forget.

Funeral services were held at Spencer Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Vaughn and Rev. Bruce Caldwell officiating. Interment followed in Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spencer Baptist Church, 207 N. Oak Street, Spindale, NC 28160 or to the Louis Rathbun Wellness Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803.

Crowe’s Mortuary is assisting the Bradley family.
