Ruby Irene Culbertson, age 91, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015.

Born September 1, 1923 in Rutherford County, NC, she was the seventh of nine children of the late John David Culbertson and Lucy Hogan Culbertson. Ruby was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and, was employed with Roses Department Store for over 50 years, and was a faithful member of the Florence Baptist Church, having been a member of the church choir, the Faith, Friendship & Hope, Sunday School Class and the Florence Senior Adults.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers, Annie Culbertson Queen and husband Grady Queen, Ida Culbertson Hartselle and husband, Arthur Hartselle, Estelle Culbertson King and husband, Reverend R. Von King, Myles Culbertson, Reid Culbertson, James Culbertson and wife, Janet, Norris Culbertson, and two nephews.

Surviving are her sister, Doris Culbertson Boring and her husband, Milton, of Winter Haven, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Culbertson of Forest City, North Carolina, and Joan Culbertson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; three nieces and three nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Florence Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt, the Reverend Mike Dawson and the Reverend Dr. Brent Barker officiating. Interment followed in the Spindale City Cemetery.
