Ruth Elizabeth Searcy, age 88

Ruth Elizabeth Searcy, age 88 passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016.

She was currently a resident of The Laurels in Hendersonville and a former longtime resident of Lake Lure. Ruth was born August 5, 1928 in Lake Lure and was a daughter of the late Cal and Novella Nanney Wilson. She was a graduate of Lake Lure High School and a member of Bills Creek Baptist Church. During her life, she traveled to many places with her late husband, Daniel "Red" Searcy, Jr. who served in the United States Navy and after his retirement they returned to live at Lake Lure. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Randall and Pat Parton.

Survivors include two daughters and five grandchildren, and a brother, Robert Wilson and wife Joe of Lake Lure.

A graveside service was held at Bills Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Gene Daggerhart officiating. Memorials may be made to Bills Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1475 Bills Creek Road, Lake Lure, NC 28746.
