Forest City’s 2010 Champion can best be described by one of their own mottos: “First In, Last Out”.  If a volunteer job involves being on Main Street for an event literally at the crack of dawn, the members of the Marine Corps League Chris S. Ebert Detachment 1221 are always first on the street.  And they are often the last to leave as well.  Six times a year, the Detachment places 100 flags on Main Street from dawn until dusk as part of the Forest City Flag Project.  The members of the League also organize the downtown Memorial Day Ceremony which involves all the county veteran’s groups and branches of the armed services.  Another volunteer effort is overseeing the parking over 450 car entries for the annual downtown Car Show.  Forest City Main Street is honored to have an exemplary group of men and women that serve Forest City as they served their country – with pride and dedication.    The Detachment is named after a Rutherford County native, Chris S. Ebert,  who was killed in action in Iraq.
