Rutherford Regional Health System (RRHS) announced on Thursday, May 18, that Jessica Hill of the hospital's Pharmacy Department has been recognized as the hospital's 2017 Mercy Award winner. Hill is one of over 70 other individuals across LifePoint Health to receive this award.
The annual Mercy Award program was established in 2002 to honor the life of Scott Mercy, LifePoint's founding chairman and chief executive officer (CEO). It recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint's 72 healthcare facilities, and the Health Support Center based in Brentwood, Tenn., who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded. The Mercy Award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
"At Rutherford Regional, we share LifePoint's commitment to making communities healthier, and we realize that the hard work and dedication of our employees is critical to our success," said Becca Segal, CEO of RRHS. "Every day, Jessica goes above and beyond to demonstrate a level of care and compassion that we want every person who enters our facilities to experience. We are extremely proud to recognize Jessica for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community."
Hill, who first came to RRHS in 2012, is a staff pharmacist who represents her department on a number of key committees and initiatives throughout the hospital.
In addition to her exceptional work ethic, professionalism and leadership, Hill was especially singled out as this year's winner for being active in the Rutherford County community. Among other activities, she has led relief efforts for firefighters battling wildfires within the past year, led a group who stocked backpacks for elementary school students needing weekend meal supplies, and organized assistance for children of a family enduring a personal crisis.
Each hospital winner, including Hill, will be considered for LifePoint's 2017 company-wide Mercy Award. That winner will be announced this summer and honored during a special ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August, to which Hill and all hospital winners are invited to attend.
Hill was selected from among 18 nominees at RRHS. Others who were nominated by fellow employees and physicians include: Janice Robbins, Lance Coleman, Lori Davis, Joe Bach, Sherry Lynch, Kelly Brinegar, Penny Logan, Amelia Newton, Thomas Franks, Shelah Moore, Israel Short, Janice Smith, Tammy Bridges, Kim Bridges, Paula Champion, Dr. Josh Edgerton, and Carrie Jackson.
