The 2nd Annual Casino Night a fundraiser for Rutherford Town Revitalization is for Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 7 pm until 11 pm at the former Doncaster-Tanner Outlet/Water Oak Restaurant facility located at 581 Rock Road, Rutherfordton, NC.

Tickets are $50 per person in advance or $60 at the door. All contributions are tax deductible to extent allowable by law.  The ticket includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine and music. Each ticket too will provide a number of coins/tickets that may be used for gaming. Additional tickets and coins will be available for purchase.

Persons attending will have first chance to preorder the third in the series of Bechtler commemorative coins. The first coin, a coin emulated the Bechtler $1 gold coin, the first gold coin minted in the nation. It  was available during Rutherfordton’s 225th Anniversary celebration. The second was a commemorative coin depicting the Bechtler $5 coin. The 3rd coin is a replica of the Bechtler $2.5 dollar coin.  All coins have been designed with the assistance of coin expert and dealer Norman Jenkins and his wife Betty of Norm’s Coin Shop.

Rutherfordton Town Revitalization Coordinator Cindy Adair says “Last year’s Casino Night was so much fun and this too should be a great evening around the tables with casino type games like Texas Hold’en, Roulette and Black Jack. The guest croupees for the various tables will be people you know in the community and this will add to the fun. They will be dealing the cards and throwing the dice for their respective tables. Win at the tables, collect your coins and win great prizes.”

The proceeds of this and other RTR fund raising efforts are used to fund façade grants to downtown property owners, to encourage partnerships in events and activities to stimulate the economic welfare of downtown businesses and merchants, and assist in the coordination and sponsorship of annual festivals. RTR was instrumental in the location of KidSenses Interactive Children’s Museum in Downtown Rutherfordton and is the sponsor of the July 4th Celebration.

Rutherford Town Revitalization (RTR) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization and is a member of the NC Main Street Program, a program of the NC Department of Commerce. RTR works to stimulate economic development within the context of historic preservation, using a comprehensive approach to downtown revitalization developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and utilized by the National Trust Main Street Center to assist communities across the county. It operates with a volunteer Board of Directors. For information www.rutherfordtown.com.
