For good reason, I like to make dips to serve in the summertime. They’re easy to make and are always good to have when family and friends get together.
A pitcher of sweet tea and a good dip promotes conversation and includes good friendship. I’m using “Country Classics” from Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. So this week, be easy on yourself and sit around and have some sweet tea and dips.
Apple Dip • Bacon Cheddar Dip • Dairy Delicious Dip
First off, I’m going to make GERALDINE HINSON’S Apple Dip. 8 ounces cream cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 package Heath toffee chips, approximately 6 Granny Smith apples. Blend with a mixer all ingredients except chips and apples. Cut apples into wedges. With a spoon, stir in chips before serving.
Bacon Cheddar Dip
Next I’m going to make a Bacon Cheddar Dip. It’s FAYE TOMBLIN’S recipe. This recipe is almost too easy, but boy is it good. 1 16-ounce container sour cream, 1 cup Kraft Cheddar Cheese, 1/4 cup bacon bits, Ritz Crackers. Mix all ingredients except Ritz crackers. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour.
Dairy Delicious Dip
Dairy Delicious Dip is courtesy of IRENE SAIN. 1 8-ounce package of cream cheese, softened, 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1 to 2 tablespoons maple syrup. (I prefer 2). In a small mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, sugars and syrup to taste and beat until smooth. Chill. Serve with a lot of fresh fruit. Unusual and very good.
So now you know that “dippin’” doesn’t have to be tobacco. Serve any of these dips and enjoy. Get in the kitchen and show the love folks! Tip: These recipes are perfect for teenagers or youngsters. They can make them and enjoy.
