SafeKids gives out bike helmets to third graders

More than 700 third grade students across Rutherford County will receive new bicycle helmets from Safe Kids Rutherford County. Third grade is a good time to provide helmets, said Chris Burley, who heads up Safe Kids, because their head growth has stabilized and they are at the age to understand bicycle safety. Financial support for the helmet program is provided by Kiwanis of Forest City, Kiwanis of Rutherfordton, Pilot Club of Rutherford County and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
