Sarah Raeann McCurry, age 24

Sarah Raeann McCurry, age 24 of Hickory, NC, following an extended illness, ended her journey on earth January 20th, 2016.

She was born April 17, 1991 to Sheila Conner McCurry and Norman McCurry both of Union Mills, NC. Sarah grew up in the Gilkey community where she was a 2008 graduate of the REACH program. She then continued her education at the University of North Carolina Charlotte where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International and German Studies with a minor in Judaic Studies. While at UNCC she completed a years' study abroad in Germany, the European country dearest to her heart. Although an avid artist, Sarah's first love was traveling in Europe. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, the great outdoors, hiking, water sports, and snowboarding. Prior to her illness, Sarah worked as a Human Resource assistant for Carolina Tractor of Mooresville.

In addition to her parents, Sarah is survived by her beloved boyfriend Eric Enders of Hickory, a brother, Dustin McCurry and wife Rebecca of Union Mills, nieces, Havyn and Hannah McCurry, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would also like to thank The Padgett and King Mortuary for their assistance.
