Gary Barnett, founder of the Little Detroit Chapter of the AACA, announces it is celebrating this national event with an Open Cruise-In at Bennett Classics Antique Auto Museum in Forest City, North Carolina on Friday, July 14th, from 4-8pm. The date will mark the eighth consecutive commemoration in what is now an annual event to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.

According to their website, "Lovers of cars, trucks and SUV's are the motivating force behind the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA). This trade association consists of a diverse group of manufacturers, distributors, retailers, publishing companies, auto restorers, street-rod builders, re-stylers, car clubs, race teams and more. SEMA members make, buy, sell and use all kinds of specialty parts and accessories to make vehicles more attractive, more unique, more convenient, faster, safer, more fun and even like-new again. The companies that founded SEMA--and the entire specialty parts and accessories industry, for that matter--were started by people who loved cars and trucks and turned their hobby into a career. Most people in the industry today still feel this way. That's one of the things that makes SEMA and its members unique."

The Cruise-In will be located at 241 Vance Street and is free for participants and the public, and both will enjoy a discounted entry to Bennett Classic Auto Museum on site. Food will be available and music will be provided by DJ Johnny Adkins. Mr. Barnett says, "This is a national event for those special cars in our lives... Come on out, let's see those special cars."
