Southell "Linda" Wood, age 81

Southell "Linda" Wood, age 81, of Forest City, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019.

Linda was born August 20, 1937 in Rutherford County to the late Wilbren Herman Tate and Myrtle Blackwell Tate. She worked in various facets of food service and taught a Cake Decorating class at Isothermal Community College. Linda held the distinction of being a charter member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, vacation bible school worker and choir member. She was enthusiastic about flower and vegetable gardening and loved cooking for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-six years, Edward "Gene" Wood and a son, Shannon Deon Wood.

Those left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Sheila Wood Cuthbertson and husband, Jim of Rutherfordton; three sisters, Diann Harrill and husband Robert, Judy Estep and Myra Branch and husband, Chris all of Forest City; brother, Paul Tate and wife, Martha of Forest City.

She is also survived by one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter, and sixteen nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was conducted at New Bethel Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
