Stephen “Tyler” Watkins, age 18

Stephen “Tyler” Watkins, age 18, of Ellenboro, NC, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013.

     Tyler was born June 20, 1994 in Rutherford County, NC and was a graduate of Rutherford Opportunity Center, class of 2013.  He worked part-time for Tri-City Discount Furniture and was a member of Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church.  He enjoyed dirt bike racing and raced at the Mid-East Hare Scramble.  He also enjoyed the outdoors which included camping and hunting.  Tyler had wrestled for the East High School wrestling team.

     He was preceded in death by great grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. T G Canipe, Betty Price, Gertrude Watkins, Ted Laughter and Frances Laughter.

      Survivors include his parents, Phil and Michale Watkins of Ellenboro; one sister, Amber Watkins and brother, Preston Morrow; grandparents, Kenneth and Elizabeth Watkins of Bostic and Roger and Brenda Laughter of Columbus, NC; great-grandfather, Osborn Price of Converse, SC and two uncles, Scott Watkins of Shiloh Community and Keith Watkins of Bostic.

      Funeral services were conducted at the Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church with Reverend Terry Ware and Reverend Gene Crain officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.
