Sue Wallace Rhyne, 77, passed away on February 2, 2015.  

Sue was the youngest daughter of the late George Henry and Pearl Watts Wallace of Charlotte, NC. A longtime resident of Belmont, Sue currently lived in Forest City, NC.

Sue was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother and in turn was deeply cherished by her family. She attended North Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte. She married Jack L. Rhyne in 1954 and lived most of her life in the Belmont area where she was a long time member of Unity Baptist Church and Westmorland Baptist Church in Charlotte. Sue was currently a member of Florence Baptist Church in Forest City, NC. In 2005, Sue retired from Transbotics of Charlotte and prior to that had worked over twenty years with Roffler, Inc. also in Charlotte.  

Sue is survived by her husband of almost 61 years, former Belmont mayor and NC state senator Jack L. Rhyne; son John M. Rhyne, Sr. and wife Kathy of Belmont; son-in-law John T. Cooney of Wasilla, AK; sister Carolyn Wallace Davis and husband Bobby of Charlotte; special sister-in-law Connie Rhyne Atkins and husband Chris of Belmont. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her son, Robin W. Rhyne, Sr., daughter-in-law Kimberly Ogden Rhyne, grandson Hunter W.  Rhyne - all of Statesville, NC and her daughter Susan Rhyne Cooney of Wasilla, AK.  Sue is also survived by grandchildren, Alana J. Rhyne, Katie Rhyne Gillespie and husband Matt , Robin W. Rhyne, Jr. , John Marshall Rhyne, Jr., Emily S. Rhyne  - all of Belmont, NC, and  Zachary T. Cooney of Anchorage, AK. Also surviving is a large extended family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and seven great- grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at Unity Baptist Church in Belmont with Reverend Joe Lawing and assisted by Dr. Bobby Gantt of Florence Baptist Church, Forest City. A graveside service followed the funeral at Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Belmont Community Organization, PO Box 1248, Belmont, NC, 28012.

McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont is serving the Rhyne Family.
