As the trees turn different colors, they begin to show their fall personality.

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth’s flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

             “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer

  These twelve lines of eight syllables in strict iambic tetrameter pehaps best expresses our feelings, especially in the fall. The poem was first published in 1914. The poet Joyce Kilmer was killed in the second battle of the Marne in 1918. He was just 31 years old. It seems so befitting that such a simple poem best expresses our love of the outdoors and our respect for trees.

Each year we cannot wait to see the splash of colors nature will provide.

It seemed that this was the place to be. If you were there, you know what I mean.
     To everyone who came, it was another testimony of the wonderful gifts we have to share in Rutherford County.
