The Great White update

Tyler White

As injury has hit the Astros, Tyler White has stepped back into the first base role in Houston for now. He has reached base four times in his last five appearances, so it's good to see him have opportunity again within the organization. And why not? "The Great White" is fairly popular with the fans in Houston.

Forest City Owls

The Owls lost a chance to capture the first half West Standings as the Hi-Toms beat them last week at home. The Hi-Toms won eight of their last 10 to win the first half and seal a playoff berth.

Former East Rutherford alum, Kendall McGowan has the seventh highest batting average in the CPL this season at .348. That is one of the bright spots so far in this first half with Forest City having a 13-12 record.

NASCAR

It was a great ending this past weekend in Chicagoland. Despite Kyle Busch having a car that was primarily "junk" all week, somehow they made the right adjustments, got track position and held off a furious challenge by Kyle Larson to win.

Larson got into Busch in turn one of the last lap to try and make a pass stick, unfortunately, they both found each other in the wall. Busch get back ahead before realizing a tire was going flat which allowed Larson to pass at the end of the backstretch. However, Busch spun Larson out by using him as the brakes in turn 3. Busch had just enough of a cushion from there to limp around and win. For those who hate Busch, unfortunately for you, that was fair game racing.

This Saturday night, they are in Daytona and all bets are off. Anybody can win or end up on their roof. I have no prediction on the winner, but I do think you will see some sheet metal torn up before 400 miles come to an end.

Allegedly, Lebron James is going to the Lakers, then I wonder if Kawhi Leonard is next to find the Lakers. If so, then that could be a threat to Golden State. The west is so good right now, it's going to be hard to even get to Golden State in the playoffs anyhow. Is there really any reason to have an eastern champ. A healthy Boston might be the only team that can really threaten a West team next year.
