Thomas McBrayer "Tommy Mac" Hicks, age 63 of Forest City passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017.

Tommy Mac was born January 16, 1954 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Thomas Reid Hicks and Mary Jane McBrayer Hicks. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Forest City and a sports writer. Tommy Mac was for many years the owner and publisher of the former Amazin' Shopper, a local newspaper. He was a proud graduate of East Rutherford High School Class of 1972 and continues the close bond with his classmates today. He received his Undergraduate Degree in History from St. Andrews College and went on to receive his Graduate Degree in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Survivors include three sisters, Mary Hicks Springman and husband Mark of Duncan, SC, Linda Hicks Bridges and husband Ben of Forest City, and Laura Hicks Thomas and husband Ed of Waynesville, NC. There are also a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at one o'clock Thursday in The First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Garin Hill, Reverend Scott Butler and Reverend Pat Jobe officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the Family Fellowship Hall of the church. Interment will be private for the immediate family. Online guest registry is available at www.padgettking.com
