Tommy Givens, Sr. age 80

Tommy Givens, Sr. age 80, of Forest City, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

Tommy was born August 6, 1938 in Rutherford County to the late Thurman Givens and Pauline Poteat Givens. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and was of the Baptist faith. Tommy worked at Joe's Body Shop and in textiles for many years. He was an avid fisherman and Atlanta Braves fan. Tommy's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of his pet dog, "Prissy".

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Manning Givens and three brothers, Jerry, Bobby and Walter "Pee Wee" Givens.

Those left to cherish his memory include four daughters, Patricia Smith of Forest City, Linda Bradley (Dale) of Bostic, Ann Givens of Forest City and Karen Hill (Bryan) of Forest City; son, Thomas "Tom Tom" Givens, Jr. (Leslie) of Forest City; sister, Dorothy Scruggs of Forest City and brother, Joe Givens of Rutherfordton and a sister-in-law, Barbara Givens of Florida. He is also survived by six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
