Tommy O'Dell, age 68, of Forest City

Tommy O'Dell, age 68, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018.

Tommy was born November 14, 1949 in Rutherford County to the late Charles Thomas O'Dell, Sr. and Corene Guffey O'Dell. He was a graduate of R-S Central High School, class of 1967. Tommy served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Marine Corps. He worked for J & R Inc. for many years and was an electrician by trade. Tommy was a proud member of the Rutherford County Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League and an avid Carolina Panthers fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jim O'Dell.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Helen O'Dell; daughter, Dawn O'Dell Lovelace and husband, J.R. of Ellenboro; three sons, Steve O'Dell and wife, Tera of Forest City, Colden O'Dell and wife, Daphne of Mill Spring and Jesse O'Dell of Ellenboro; three brothers, Joe O'Dell and wife, Judy of Forest City, Donald O'Dell and wife, Lorene of Forest City and Kenneth O'Dell; two sisters, Brenda Lane and husband, Ronnie of Henrietta and Tracy Hudgins and husband, Gary of Ruth. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the Marine Corps League Building in Forest City. Military honors were rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League.
