Tough Week For Owls, Post 423

We are a quarter of the way through collegiate summer baseball season with the Forest City Owls. To date, Forest City (4-10) continue to struggle.

The struggle has mainly been at the start or at the finish of games. Errors, pitching and leaving runners stranded have been the biggest thing so far. If they can string enough hits together for run support, keep the mistakes to a minimum in the field and find some consistency of only giving up three to five runs per game from the mound, then they will win games. If they can't, it's going to be a long summer.

In the legion baseball, Post 423 has also struggled. Rutherford County (3-9) is on vacation due to schools letting out for the summer and won't be back at McNair Field until June 23. They host Burke County that night. Post 423 remains in eighth place in the West standings, which is the final playoff spot among area teams.

NBA Finals

Okay, I admit it. I was wrong. I really thought Golden State was going to walk away with the title, no problems at all. I mean the NBA West was better all year. At this time, the finals are at 3-2 Golden State. Cleveland led 2-1 after game three.

Lebron James just won't give up despite no Kevin Love or Kyrie Irving. Guys like Matthew Dellavedova and Tristan Thompson have stepped up on both sides of the ball. Golden State became more aggressive and played with a smaller line up in Game four, which gave the Warriors the win. I still like Golden State, but no matter who wins, both are great stories.

Stephen Curry, who won the NBA MVP, led them to the best record this season and may end up leading his team to a title despite being overlooked as he grew up. Lebron wants so desperately to win the title for Cleveland, which is home for him. Plus, nothing has happened well in Cleveland sports wise. The Browns and the Indians have certainly never given much hope to the city.

NASCAR

Kyle Busch got back in the winner's circle on Saturday afternoon, but in the Xfinity Series at Michigan. Not four months after a crash that injured his right leg and left foot, Busch finds himself winning races again. That's unbelievable! This comes not even a month after being back in the race car. Being a family man now, I wonder if you will see the kind of aggressiveness we used to see out of him. I will say that he is definitely tamer, but there is no love loss with fans. NASCAR is off this coming weekend for Father's Day, but head to Sonoma on June 28.
