Virginia Cohoon Greene, age 90

Virginia Cohoon Greene, age 90, of Forest City, formerly of Mooresboro, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014.

A native of Raleigh, she was the daughter of the late Julius Ashby Cohoon & Myrtle Fuquay Cohoon & was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, G. William (Bill) Greene. Her grandparents were the late David & Amanda Rowland Fuquay who owned Fuquay Springs where they resided, which later became Fuquay-Varina.  She attended Peace College & received her nursing degree from Rex Hospital in Raleigh.  Her 20 year nursing career included time at Royster Hospital & later Cleveland Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Greene was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church, Mooresboro, & a faithful volunteer for Yokefellow. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Greene Murray & husband Lester of Mooresboro; sons, Phillip Greene & partner Michael Greene of Forest City, & Thomas Greene & wife Rae of Newton; grandchildren, David Coggins & wife Barbara of Boiling Springs, Christopher Coggins & wife Emily of Mooresboro, & Joseph Greene of Chatanooga, TN; & great grandchildren, Morgan Coggins & Heidi Coggins of Boiling Springs.

Graveside services were held in the Sandy Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. J. Anthony Spencer & Rev. Andrew Rawls officiating. Memorials may be made to Yokefellow Service Center, 132 Blanton Street, Spindale, NC 28160 or Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
