Wallace Jason Ruppe, age 91

Wallace Jason Ruppe, age 91, of Rutherfordton, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017.

He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Avery Washington Ruppe and the late Mittie Cole Ruppe. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an avid cat lover, a weather observer for the National Weather Service for 30 years and did weather updates on WCAB Radio for 25 years. Wallace was a member of the

American Legion Post 74 and was the P.A. Announcer for the Americam Legion Post 74 baseball games. He was involved in Rutherford County Crime Control, loved to visit the Rutherford County Senior Center and enjoyed doing anything outdoors.

Wallace was preceded in death by three brothers; Furman, Vester and Herman Ruppe and one sister Virginia Dare Ruppe.

He is survived by his wife: Ruth Oree Hooper Harton Ruppe. Two sons: Jason Travis Ruppe, Mark Christopher Harton and wife Vikki. Two granddaughters, four step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Hooper officiating. Interment was held at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
