Walter A. Gero, age 90

Walter A. Gero, age 90, of Henrietta, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017.

Born July 2, 1926 in Malone, NY, he was a son to the late Frederick Gero and Viola Higgins Gero. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Philippines during World War II. Walter worked as a carpenter and a masonry finisher. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife of over thirty years, Evelyn Sancomb Gero; a special friend, Theresa Tavernia; three sisters and a brother.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, David Gero and wife, Frances of Henrietta; six daughters, Linda Cesario of Chittenango, NY, Barbara Adair of Schenectady, NY, Bonnie Mahoney and husband, Dennis of Chittenango, Carolyn Gross, Brenda Clark and Maria Riddell all of Schenectady; one brother, Raymond Gero of Duane, NY and sister, Katherine Gero of PA. He is also survived by a multiple number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a host of special friends and extended family members. A gathering of remembrance was held at Harrelson Funeral Home.

Memorial donations are respectively requested to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.

Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
