Walter Boyce "Josh" Crowder, age 86, of Forest City, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015.

Boyce was born September 11, 1929 in Forest City, NC to William Lee Crowder and Winnie Small Crowder. He was a graduate of Cool Springs High School class of 1949 in Forest City, NC and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a long time member of the Korean War Veterans Association. Boyce moved to Clermont, FL in 1966. He worked in citrus a number of years and retired from Bell Ceramics of Clermont, FL in 1991. He moved back to Rutherford County in 2012. He was a member of Ferndale Baptist Church, Ferndale, FL and a former member of Smith Grove Baptist Church, Forest City, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert B. Crowder and Charles E. Crowder and a sister, Evelyn E. Huntley.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie Crowder, of Minneola, Florida, a daughter, Susie Byers and her husband Aaron "Bud" Byers of Forest City; step-daughters, Judy Wegner and husband Bill of Clermont, FL, Wanda Snapp of Palm Coast, FL, and Gwen Smallwood of Groveland, FL; a brother, James Crowder and his wife Ruby of Forest City; two sisters, Margaret Fromhold and her husband Paul of Orange City, Florida, Mary Ann Cole and her husband Robert of Rutherfordton, a sister-in-law, Betty Turner Crowder, and one grandchild. There are also seven nephews and four nieces, and a number of step-grandsons and step-granddaughters.

A memorial service was held in the Smith Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Terry White officiating. Military honors followed the service accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Smith Grove Baptist Church, Post Office Box 1195, Forest City, NC 28043.
