Wanda Whitesides Byers, age 87

Wanda Whitesides Byers, age 87, of Forest City, NC, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

Born February 10, 1927 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late James Oscar Whitesides and Mattie Florence Webb Whitesides. Wanda was a homemaker and a graduate of Isothermal Community College. She was also a member of Caroleen United Methodist Church.  Wanda was an avid reader and enjoyed ceramics and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Byers; son, Pete Rivera; two brothers, Leron Whitesides, James Whitesides and sister, Betty Jones.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Rivera of Kannapolis, NC and Bettina Conn and husband, Roscoe of Forest City; sister, Tina Hooper and husband, Ray of Forest City. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted with Reverend Roy Byers officiating.  Interment followed in Cool Springs Cemetery.
