Thanksgiving evening, November 22nd, at precisely 7pm, it all started! Forest City, once again, became the Christmas time “City Of Lights”. A million lights were turned on and greeted everyone assembled downtown. The lights, wrapped around trees, glistening overhead, embracing buildings and creating favorite Christmas characters. This is the scene that welcomes this wonderful time of the year.

Then, on Sunday, November 25th, over 5,000 people came out to enjoy the fabulous annual Forest City Christmas parade. What a parade! Over 300 floats, bands, marching performers, dancers and Santa’s helpers made it an extra special event. The parade filled the streets from McNair Drive to South Broadway. The weather was ideal and the oldest Christmas Parade in Rutherford County presented a wonderful show. Forest City Town Planner, Danielle Withrow said she couldn’t have asked for a better and more exciting event.

Starting this week there will be hayrides, carriage rides, ice skating, Santa House and Santa Paws. See page 2 for event times and details.  The celebration just gets better each year, and hot chocolate is the drink of the day.

The annual Forest City Christmas parade is always a great way to begin the holidays. We come together to not only celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, but to come together with our family, friends and neighbors in a prayerful and sincere wish for peace on earth! Also, let us not forget those serving in our armed forces. They too deserve a grateful Christmas.

Let us try to continue the kind spirit of Christmas all throughout the coming year and seek and see the good in everyone.
