William Ivey Smith, 51 of Forest City passed away October 4, 2018. Born December 25, 1966 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Franklin Eugene "Gene" Smith and Margaret "Muriel" Huffstickler Smith. Ivey was a 1985 graduate of East Rutherford High School where he excelled in football, golf and softball, and greatly enjoyed playing golf. He was an avid Duke and Dallas Cowboys fan, a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church, and was a Mason. He was a Pawn Broker having owned and operated Ivey's Pawn Shop for several years. Surviving are his sister, Gena Smith Daves (Tommy) of Forest City, two brothers, Tim Smith (Mary Jane Kirkpatrick) and Jeff Smith, all of Spindale. Nieces and nephews, Kyle Daves, Jacob Smith, Bryson Smith, Kelsey Smith Kaleb Davis and Lucas Davis. Graveside services will be held Saturday morning, October 13, 2018 at eleven o'clock at the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Greg Huntley and the Reverend Richard Bass officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request the memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. Padgett & King Mortuary is serving the family.
