Worth W. Burgess, age 85

Worth W. Burgess, age 85, of Ellenboro, NC, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013.

Worth was born November 22, 1927 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Roscoe William Burgess and Laura Jane Radford Burgess. He served during World War II and was a veteran of the US Army.  He worked in textiles most of his life and enjoyed hunting and going to flea markets and auctions.

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Sam Burgess, Grover Burgess, Harold Dean Burgess and Robert Henson Burgess; three sisters, Lilie Vickers, Thelma Tesseniar and Lorene Greene.

Survivors include one son, Jeff Burgess of Ellenboro; two sisters, Betty Rash and Margaret Hodge both of Forest City; two grandchildren, Ashley Schneider, Jeffrey Burgess II and one great granddaughter, Addyson Grace Van Dyke.

      Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Glen Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Caroleen-Avondale-Henrietta Cemetery with Military Honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
