Robert William "Bob" Owens, age 76

Robert William "Bob" Owens, age 76, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018.

Bob was born September 22, 1942 in Rutherford County and was the son of Clyde Hatcher Owens and Florence Daves Owens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Max Owens, Elijah Clyde Owens Jr.; and one sister, Essie Mae Richardson.

He was an active member of Alexander Missionary Methodist Church, where he served as Treasurer and Steward and a member of Cliffside Masonic Lodge #460. Bob was proud to be a United States Army veteran serving during Vietnam.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years, Marie Ellis Owens; one son, James Kevin Owens and wife Amy; one daughter, Renee Owens Ruff and husband Reverend Michael Ruff. He is also survived by four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was conducted at Alexander Missionary Methodist Church. Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Alexander Missionary Methodist Church, 328 Poplar St., Forest City, NC 28043.
