Fourth grade students at Mount Vernon-Ruth Elementary presented the program "I Like to Call North Carolina Home" for other students at the school on May 19, and later that evening for their families. The program included North Carolina songs such as "The Old North State" and "Carolina in the Morning," trivia, history and important facts about the state. North Carolina history is part of the fourth grade curriculum, and the program was held one day before the 240th anniversary of the founding of the state.
