J. P. Junior Bailey, age 92, of Rutherfordton, passed away, Sunday, February 5, 2023.

J. P. was born March 17, 1930 in Rutherford County to the late George Bailey and Ruth Hardin Bailey. He was a veteran of the US Army and of the Baptist faith. J.P. worked for AGI Manufacturing and Stonecutter Mill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Irene Dixon Bailey; son, Scott Bailey; brothers, Clifford, Roy, Dennis and Jake Bailey and a sister, Barbara Randolph.

Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife, Vonnie Bailey; son, Dean Bailey (Annie) of Lyman, SC; daughter-in-law, Sherry Bailey of Rutherfordton; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brothers, George Bailey of Sunshine and Norman Bailey of Boiling Springs; sisters, Jean Bailey of Boiling Springs and Pam Thomas of Gaffney, SC.

A committal service was conducted February 9 in Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Ruppe officiating. Military honors were conducted by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
