     Jerry C. Padgett, age 78, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015.

     Born May 29, 1936 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Clark Hal Padgett and Eva Pearl Calton Padgett. Jerry worked for Cone Mills-Avondale Plant for over fifty years and was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors which included brush-hogging, camping and fishing. Jerry was also an avid listener of blue grass music.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Max and Bill Padgett; sister, Syble Padgett and a grandson, Elijah Cole.

     Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Betty D. Padgett; daughter, Lisa Toney of Forest City; son, Scottie Ray Padgett of Morganton; sister, Mary Robbins and husband, Glenn of Forest City; two grandchildren, Emily Deanne Toney and Ethan Noah Toney; one great-granddaughter, Riley Mae Green and a host of nieces and nephews.

       A memorial service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating.
