Jerry Lee Powell, Sr., age 81

Jerry Lee Powell, Sr., age 81, of Forest City, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023.

Jerry was born April 27, 1941 in Boone County, WV to the late Paris Gilbert Powell and Mary Gladys Wilcoxen Powell. He worked in maintenance and for Pepsi-Cola for 40 years before retirement. He was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene and Thomas Powell and a son-in-law, Wayne White.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Jane Powell-White of Winston-Salem and Betty Jo Hawkins (Gerard) of Elkton, MD and a son, Jerry Lee Powell, Jr. of Forest City; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Lawter and Anna Sue Jones; brothers, Glen Edwards Powell, Johnny Russell Powell, Larry Joe Powell and Robert Benton Powell, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held February 16 at Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ernie Cole officiating.
