Mr. Claudus Samuel Newton, 87, of Forest City, NC, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Services were held at A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel, Cliffside, NC. Burial followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Newton served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Scruggs Newton; his parents, T. Pierce Newton and Mary Ann Turner Newton; and his step-mother, Annie Sue Newton.
He is survived by 1 son, Roger Newton and wife Barbara of Forest City; 1 brother, Virgil Newton and wife Janette of Morganton; 1 granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
