Roland Glen Smith, age 58, of Forest City, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014.  

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Bill Smith and JoAnn Morgan Smith.  He retired as a diesel mechanic for UPS with thirty years service and was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  Mr. Smith attended Florence Baptist Church and enjoyed golf and his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife Danita Toms Smith of the home; a son, Derek Smith and wife Sarah of Forest City; a daughter, Tiffany Smith Suttle and husband Bobby of Bostic; and a sister, Delilah Hernandez of Forest City.

Funeral services were held in the Florence Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating.  Interment followed in the Cool Springs Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Florence Baptist Church Building Fund, 201 S. Broadway Street, Forest City, NC 28043.
