Bailey Gillespie, a Prisoner of War in the Korean Conflict, of Spindale received the distinction of Third Degree Mason presented by the Charlotte Scottish Rite during a ceremony at the Western Star Lodge #91 in Rutherfordton recently.

The award was presented to Gillespie for his outstanding service to the fraternity, maintaining the principles of integrity and dignity of the Knight Commander of the Court of Honor. Attending the ceremony were Gillespie's wife, Joy, and their daughter Christy Shires.
