2-Day Hilltop Fall Festival At Last...  It's Finally Time!

Friday night, October 6th, kicks off this year's Annual 2-Day Hilltop Fall Festival with the Race For The Gold: Soapbox Derby beginning at 7:00pm. These custom designed derby cars will race down Main Street in the hopes of taking home the trophy.

At 8:30am on Saturday, the 7th, the commemorative Overmountain 5K will lead the runners through the Revolutionary soldiers' footsteps in scenic downtown Rutherfordton followed by the Tour de Pumpkin Bike Ride in its 11th year, featuring 50K and 100K rides.

Live entertainment begins at 11:00am on the Courthouse Stage with Champagne Charlie performing until 1:00pm. Following a short break, the Canine Costume Contest will start at 1:30pm. Rounding out the day, Project X will keep the town rocking until 5:00 pm.

Event organizers, Rutherford Town Revitalization, Inc., encourages festival goers to, "Get a jump start on your holiday shopping and take advantage of our huge selection of vendors from all over the region. If you're looking for unique items, hand crafted one of a kind finds you will always treasure, this is the festival for you. Many of our fabulous downtown merchants will host special events and promotions, face painting, rock walls, inflatables, and pony rides, and be sure to check out all the entries to our annual Scarecrow Contest, a longstanding Rutherfordton tradition that decorates our downtown and brings charm and whimsy to the season."
