The Overmountain Victory Trail 5K was held Saturday in Rutherfordton. The event was open to runners of all ages, and the race path included a portion of the Overmountain Victory Trail. The race was previously scheduled to coincide with the Hilltop Fall Festival, but was postponed until Oct. 24 due to inclement weather earlier this month. Proceeds from the race will help fund construction of the Overmountain Victory Trail, which will be a part of the local trails system. Fifty participants took part in the race.Top male runners were Jonathan Thacker and Stephen Thacker. Top female runners were Amy Edelstein and Amy Smith.
