Amideus Athougies was honored recently on his retirement as a volunteer at the Rutherford County Senior Center. He has served as both a SHIIP counselor (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) and as an AARP Tax-Aide volunteer. During his 17-plus years of service he donated 19,781 hours and saved Medicare recipients $1,179,513.00. His wife Monica helped with data entry and support behind the scenes. They are pictured with Tammy Aldridge, director of the Rutherford County Senior Center.
