Ann Dotson Toney, age 78 of the Sunshine Community died Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Ann was born August 24, 1947, in Hendersonville, NC and was a daughter of the late Reverend Paul Dotson and Lettie Wright Dotson.

She was a 1966 graduate of East Rutherford High School, and she drove a school bus for the Rutherford County Schools at both Sunshine and East Rutherford High School. She also worked as a caregiver for 10 years and was the pianist at five area churches over the years. Most recently she was the pianist at Duncan Creek Church.

Ann loved her family and was deeply devoted to them. The love for her grandchildren was evident in all that she did for them and her heart swelled with pride in their accomplishments.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Bennie Clarence Toney in 2021, her brother, Leslie Paul Dotson, and her son-in-law, Greg Butler.

Survivors include her daughters, Theresa Toney Butler, Tammie Toney Culler and husband Tim, her grandchildren, Austin Hammond (Makayla), Colton Hammond (Alisha), Wesley Hammond (Mackenzie), Scott Culler (Sarah), Savannah Dobbins (James), Breanna Hammond, Matt Butler (Autumn), and Cadance Remillard (Mike), as well as great-grandchildren, Lilly Hammond, Alana Hammond, Quentin Hammond, Harper Hammond, Wyatt Toney Hammond, Easton Butler, Jullian Remillard, and Jovi Remillard, her brother, Wayne Dotson, her sisters, Judy Worley (Kenneth), and Sharon Wright, and sister-in law Vivian Toney Champion.

The funeral was held March 8 at Duncans Creek Church with Rev. Phillip Duncan officiating.
