Last week, we took a trip around the county in previewing high school boys basketball. This week, we turn our attention a little more to ladies hoops.

No ladies basketball program in the county has more wins over the last three seasons than R-S Central’s. The Lady Hilltoppers have 55 wins over the past three seasons (17-9, 18-9, 20-7) and have went three rounds in back-to-back seasons of the 3A playoffs.

    The Hospice of Rutherford County Festival of Trees which typically raises approximately $25,000 is taking place now through December 8.  The annual fundraiser will assist the organization in serving terminally ill patients regardless of ability to pay and provide grief counseling at no cost for anyone in the community who lost a loved one.

Our school system was integrated when I was in 5th grade.  Carlton had never had a white friend before me, but we became friends despite the daily bomb threats and riots.  We haven’t seen each other since high school graduation, but recently Carlton and I got back together.  And he told me this story.
