South Mountain Christian Camp Scholarship Fund: Trying to touch a generation and change
the direction of a nation and the world

Since 1972, it has been the policy of South Mountain Christian Camp that no child be denied the opportunity to attend Camp due to financial reasons. By sponsoring a camper, you can provide a child age 7 to 15 with a week of camping, hiking, swimming, games, food (both physical and spiritual) and a cabin director eager to become God’s ambassador.

Outdoor Truths

Outdoor Truths
The Vietnam Moving Wall was recently in my area. Hundreds of individuals visited this monument in a period of 3 days. Several civilian and veteran volunteers assisted visitors as they searched for the names of those who died in that war. Wayne was one of those Vietnam veteran volunteers. He is also a long-time friend of mine who started taking me fishing when I was a teenager. We have many stories to tell of days past when fishing was a great part of our lives. For over 30 years now we have remained friends and see each other nearly every week in church. Wayne is not normally an out-front kind of guy. He prefers to do the grunt-work of any mission. He will get dirty, wet, and even take the brunt of criticism in order to keep it off others. He is the type of guy every leader needs – and bunches just like him.

How’s your vacation?

Why is it that to take a week of vacation, you have to do two weeks of work before you leave and two weeks of work when you return?  You’re only gone a week!  Does the work multiply while you’re gone?

This reality can produce a certain amount of guilt about vacation times.  For instance, let’s say you go to the beach, pick up a seashell, and put it up to your ear.  Do you hear the soothing tides of the ocean gently rolling in on the shore?  Or do you hear, "So you thought you'd get away from work for a week, did you?  Don't you feel guilty?  Just think of all the work you’re missing.  That associate could be moving up to take your place, you know…"
