East Softball Nabs First, R-S Central Not Far Behind

Two high school teams have hit a couple of bumps in the roads, but have rebounded on the softball field.

It took half the conference season to do it, but East Rutherford has taken over atop the South Mountain Athletic teams. The Lady Cavs downed Chase 6-2 and then overhauled former standings leader, Kings Mountain 8-6 to end the week. East Rutherford (10-2, 7-1) has now won nine straight ballgames.

Got Friends?

Moving is stressful.  Finding a new house, starting a new job and taking a new license picture are all scary.  However, the hardest part about moving is finding new friends.

I had lived in Atlanta for two months and was starting to adjust to my daily routine, but the only people I knew were the people I worked with and my roommate.  I spent some weekend nights cuddling with my dog and the remote. As outgoing as I am, I had no idea how to make friends without the safety net of a school environment.

All of that changed when one of my coworkers asked me to join her, her husband and their friends for a night out.  We were both nervous when the night started, but as the evening progressed, we found out that we were very similar and had a great time!  We’re now very close friends, with even her husband inviting me out on “dates” with them both.  I have never been more grateful for her courage in breaking that “work barrier.”

Today, work positive and make a new friend.

Outdoor Truths

Outdoor Truths
John’s dad, Johnny, propped his gun up on the shooting stick. It was too heavy for him to hold himself. He gathered his boy close to his bosom and carefully tried to help him aim at the turkey’s neck. In the meantime little John was intent on looking down the barrel and putting the bead on the target just like he had been taught. At seven years old it was a lot to remember but he seemed to be doing just fine. It was his dad who was a nervous wreck. This was his son’s first shot at a turkey and it was a full-fledged strutter; a trophy for anyone, man or child.
