Providing basic needs to those in the community she loves came to Christi Wenger in a dream.

Well, the first week of high school football is in the books and three teams went onto victory. Below is a recap of what happened last week and a capsule to gear for the coming week's games.

Conner Stroud of Rutherfordton was one of 34 young wheelchair athletes who recently participated in the 2015 USTA/ITF International Junior Wheelchair Tennis Camp in Mission Viejo, Calif. The camp took place at Marguerite Tennis Pavilion and was for youth who live with a permanent disabling condition and use a wheelchair when playing sports, including tennis.

Billy Ruff, age 27, of Rutherfordton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 23, 2015.

George Timmons Wood, Jr., age 88, of Forest City, passed away August 20, 2015.

Mr. William Ronald Miller age 71 of Rutherfordton went home to be with The Lord on Saturday August 22, 2015.

Rev. Malone Washington Thomason, Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday August 16, 2015.

Wilma Lula Hill Hall, 89, of Rutherfordton, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015.

One of the ways to get a great cycling workout without going a long distance is to ride to the pinnacle. That may sound like a motivational statement but in my area there is actually a place called the pinnacle.
