Betty Jean Goforth Penson, 90, of Spindale, NC passed away October 10, 2023.

A native of Rutherfordton, she was the daughter of the late Hunter and Annette Goforth. She was also preceded in death by her husband Bill Penson and her brother Hunter Goforth, Jr.

Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed travels as a Navy wife.

She is survived by her daughter, Teri Smart and husband, Stan, one granddaughter, brothers Bob Goforth, John Goforth and wife Yvonne, and Warren Goforth and wife Marsha and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

A funeral service was held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel October 13 with Rev. Brandon Wood officiating.
